Fairhead Meet 2016

There’s not much left to say about the quality of climbing at Fairhead Meet 2016 that hasn’t already been said.  Perfect weather, perfect rock and the perfect company of 500 friends from across the climbing community who came together for a weekend on one of the best crags in the world.  After crushing most of the crag, including a flash of The Dark Side (E8 6c), Alex Honnold delivered a sold-out lecture in a cow-shed on the Saturday night.  It was quite different from the lectures earlier in the week, Alex talked about the grit, climbing ethics and why Fairhead should be bolted.

Huge thanks to Paul Swail and the rest of the team, especially Sean the farmer, for getting the whole Fairhead Climbers meet together and making it such a success.

I’ll let this small selection photos do the rest of the talking. See you next year…

Heather cruising up Halloween, E4 6a. The second pitch is an unrelenting crack which stretches for 45m with barely a move easier than 5b.

Sunsets like this and Guinness at the top of the crag. Quite possibly the best crag in the UK.
